We're thrilled to announce an exciting addition to our accommodations this summer! From July 25th through August 25th, Mersey River Chalets will be hosting a collection of beautiful glamping yurts, bringing you a unique way to connect with nature while enjoying the comfort and accessibility that defines our retreat.
Handcrafted Nova Scotia Artistry
These aren't just any yurts – they're authentic, handcrafted shelters created right here in Nova Scotia by the talented artisans at Little Foot Yurts, who have been providing unique shelter experiences across the Maritime provinces since 2005. Each yurt is carefully crafted using traditional techniques, with poles collected by hand and carved with years of dedication, perfectly aligning with our commitment to sustainable, accessible nature experiences.
Your Yurt Experience
Each yurt comes equipped with comfortable sleeping options including beds, cots, or futons (depending on the specific yurt), ensuring a good night's rest under our incredible Dark-Sky Preserve. All linens and towels are provided – just bring yourself and your sense of adventure!
Convenient Amenities
Facilities: Clean bathroom and shower facilities are just a 2-minute walk from the yurt area
Community Spaces: Gather around our communal firepit for evening storytelling and stargazing
Dining Options: Shared picnic tables and BBQ facilities for outdoor cooking adventures
Food Storage: Access to a communal fridge during office hours, plus ice sales for your coolers
Modern Touches: Limited electricity in each yurt provides lighting and phone charging capabilities
Accessible Nature Connection
True to our mission of making nature accessible for all people, the yurt area connects seamlessly with our wheelchair-accessible boardwalks and nature trails. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway, family adventure, or solo retreat, these yurts offer an intimate way to experience our UNESCO Biosphere Reserve setting.
Ideal for Stargazing
Positioned within a Dark-Sky Preserve – one of only two in Nova Scotia – these yurts provide an unparalleled opportunity to sleep under the darkest skies in Eastern Canada. Imagine drifting off to sleep with the Milky Way stretching overhead and waking to the sounds of the Mersey River.
Four-Season Location, Summer Focus
While our chalets and lodge rooms welcome guests year-round, these special yurts are available during our peak summer season when the weather is perfect for outdoor cooking, late-night firepit gatherings, and maximum enjoyment of our extensive trail system and water activities.
